Job summary

Activate Learning is seeking a proactive Machinery Workshop Technician to join our Engineering team at Reading college. You will support practical teaching by keeping workshops safe, well‑stocked, and fully equipped, working closely with teaching staff to enable learners to develop core hands‑on skills.

The role requires a Level 3+ Mechanical Engineering qualification and workshop experience, with a focus on safety, accurate record-keeping, and flexible contributions to an outstanding learning

Qualifications

• Level 3 qualification (or above) in Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience working in an engineering workshop or similar environment.
• Good understanding of engineering equipment, machinery and workshop practices.
• Experience maintaining tools and practical knowledge of working machinery.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support across engineering workshops.
• Help learners develop practical skills while maintaining health and safety standards.
• Assist with managing workshop resources and stock.
• Communicate effectively with staff and students and keep records up to date.
