Job summary

  • Support lecturers and learners during practical engineering activities.
  • Maintain, service, and organise engineering equipment and workshop resources.
  • Ensure workshops comply with health and safety regulations and safe working practices.
  • Manage stock levels, consumables, and equipment maintenance schedules.
  • Carry out routine workshop housekeeping and equipment checks.
  • Support the delivery of Engineering programmes across the department.

Job description

Are you an experienced Engineering Technician looking for your next opportunity within Further Education? We are currently seeking a skilled and proactive Engineering Technician to join a well-established FE College in North London on a long-term temporary basis.

This is an excellent opportunity to support the delivery of high-quality Engineering programmes by maintaining specialist workshops, preparing practical sessions, and working closely with lecturers and students.

The Role:

As an Engineering Technician, you will be responsible for preparing engineering workshops, maintaining equipment and machinery, supporting practical lessons, and ensuring all learning environments are safe, organised, and fully operational. You will work across a range of engineering disciplines to support curriculum delivery.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare engineering workshops, tools, machinery, and materials for practical sessions
  • Support lecturers and learners during practical engineering activities
  • Maintain, service, and organise engineering equipment and workshop resources
  • Ensure workshops comply with health and safety regulations and safe working practices
  • Manage stock levels, consumables, and equipment maintenance schedules
  • Carry out routine workshop housekeeping and equipment checks
  • Support the delivery of Engineering programmes across the department
Requirements:
  • Previous experience working as an Engineering Technician or within an engineering workshop environment
  • Level 3 qualification in Engineering or a related discipline
  • Good knowledge of engineering workshop equipment, machinery, and safe working practices
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • A commitment to supporting learners and maintaining high standards

£28 per hour
