Job summary

A global plastic packaging company is seeking a technician to ensure moulding machines operate to specification and maintain production quality. The ideal candidate will have a mechanical engineering background and experience in manufacturing. Responsibilities include maintaining equipment, quality checks, and ensuring adequate raw material supply. The role offers a competitive salary of £31,697 - £35,119 DOE plus benefits, including life assurance and company pension scheme, on a 4 On 4 Off shift basis.

Qualifications

• Candidates will have a mechanical engineering background.
• Experience of working within a fast-paced manufacturing/production environment.
• Exposure to plastic manufacturing process would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Ensure that moulding machines and ancillary equipment are in good running order.
• Regularly check the quality of production and fill relevant paperwork.
• Perform necessary adjustments to parts of moulding machines.
• Maintain raw material supplies and report on machine condition.
• Ensure high standards of housekeeping and cleanliness.

Job description

What You Will Enjoy Doing

To ensure that the moulding machines run to the specification established by the Technician Department and that the containers are produced to the customers agreed specification – also a focus on minimizing downtime and scrap levels. This role is based in the EBM/SBM departments.

Tasks & Responsibilities

• To ensure that moulding machines and ancillary equipment are in good running order. To report any defects to supervision and carry out any remedial work as instructed by supervision which is within the technician's level of competence.
• To ensure that product arriving at the packing station is to an acceptable quality standards - This involves regular checks on the quality of production, both for visual faults and weight and filling in correctly all relevant paperwork.
• To remove, clean, refit, realign or carry out other necessary adjustments to parts of moulding machines which are within the level of competence of the technician. This to include work on heads, tooling, blowpins, screws, barrels, blades, moulds and ancillary equipment.
• To ensure that raw material supplies are constant by changing over bins. To report to supervision if a fresh bin in usable condition is not available by the machine before a problem is created on the machine.
• To ensure that the moulding machines, ancillary equipment and the immediate work area are maintained to a high standard of housekeeping and cleanliness at all times.
