Job summary

ALPLA is seeking a Machine Technician for its Golborne base plant to operate stretch blow moulding machinery and ensure products meet customer specifications. The role includes working within a strong quality framework and supporting continuous improvement in a fast-paced environment.

You will be part of the Blow M moulding team on a 4 on 4 off shift, with a starting salary in the £32,500–£35,000 range (DOE) and regular salary reviews.

Qualifications

• Experience in fast-paced manufacturing/production environments.
• Experience operating blow moulding machinery; training provided on ALPLA equipment.
• Ability to follow strict quality guidelines and processes.
• Exposure to plastic manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

• Ensure moulding machines and ancillary equipment are in good running order and report defects.
• Check product quality at packing and ensure paperwork is completed correctly.
• Perform adjustments to machine parts within competence level.
• Maintain consistent raw material supply by changing bins and reporting shortages.
• Maintain cleanliness and housekeeping of machines and work area.

Machine Technician - Stretch Blow Moulding

What you will enjoy doing

We currently have an opportunity within our Stretch Blow Moulding Machine Technician team at our Golborne UK base plant (WA3) - With progressive training and development this role allows for potential growth in the longer term.

Purpose of job/mission:

To ensure that the plastic moulding machines run to the specification established by the Technician Department and that our products are produced to the customers agreed specification – a key focus on quality and minimizing downtime and scrap levels.

Tasks & responsibilities:

• To ensure that moulding machines and ancillary equipment are in good running order. To report any defects to supervision and carry out any remedial work as instructed by supervision which is within the technician's level of competence
• To ensure that product arriving at the packing station is to an acceptable quality standards - This involves regular checks on the quality of production, both for visual faults and weight and filling in correctly all relevant paperwork
• To remove, clean, refit, realign or carry out other necessary adjustments to parts of moulding machines which are within the level of competence of the technician.
• To ensure that raw material supplies are constant by changing over bins. To report to supervision if a fresh bin in usable condition is not available by the machine before a problem is created on the machine
• To ensure that the moulding machines, ancillary equipment and the immediate work area are maintained to a high standard of housekeeping and cleanliness at all times

• Experience of working within a fast-paced manufacturing/production environment
• Previous experience of operating/running blow moulding machinery – training provided on specific ALPLA machinery
• Experience following precise quality guidelines and supporting stringent processes
• Exposure to plastic manufacturing process
