Job summary

E‑ACT Bannerman Road Community Academy in Bristol is seeking a Lunchtime Supervisor (SMSA) to help create a safe, positive lunchtime environment for pupils. You will supervise pupils, support play, encourage good behaviour and contribute to a structured lunchtime experience.

The role requires supervising before, during and after lunch, with duties including dining room supervision, hand washing, and playground supervision under the Lead Pastoral Practitioner.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 GCSEs grade 4-9 including Maths and English (or equivalent).
• Current First Aid qualification (or willing to work towards).
• Awareness of child protection/safeguarding with up-to-date training (or willingness to undertake training).
• Demonstrate ability to deal with sensitive and emotional situations.
• Able to maintain discipline, command attention and encourage high standards of pupil behaviour at all times

Responsibilities

• Supervise pupils before, during and after the mid-day meal.
• Oversee hand washing and toileting when required.
• Manage entry and exit from the dining area and accompany to dining.
• Supervise playground under guidance of Lead Pastoral Practitioner.
• Attend to sick pupils and report incidents to staff

We are looking for a Lunchtime Supervisor (SMSA) to help create a safe, positive lunchtime environment. You’ll supervise pupils, support play, encourage good behaviour, and help make lunchtime a happy, structured part of the school day.

Key responsibilities:

• Supervision of pupils immediately before, during and after the mid-day meal. This includes provision for children who bring sandwiches.
• Supervision of hand washing and toileting by pupils deemed necessary by the Headteacher.
• Supervision of pupils’ entry and exit form the dining area, including supervision of pupils during nay journey or walk to the dining room.
• Supervision of pupils in the playground under the direction of the Lead Pastoral Practitioner.
• Taking such steps as necessary when children are sick. Attending to their needs when in distress and reporting the situation to the relevant member of staff.

Pay range:

• SCP 3 - £4,449.41 (annually)
• FTE - £25,614.00
• 7.5 hours per week, 38 weeks per year
• Permanent

Qualifications and Skills:
