Job summary

E‑ACT Bannerman Road Community Academy in Bristol is looking for a dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant to support pupils and teachers across the school. The HLTA will deliver high-quality learning activities, cover teacher absence, and collaborate with staff to tailor lessons to all pupils.

The role emphasises safeguarding, strong communication, and a commitment to helping children reach their full potential within a warm school community that values resilience and collaboration.

Qualifications

  • Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).
  • Recent experience of working with primary-aged children in an educational setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, colleagues and families.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently and use initiative.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality learning activities and lessons across the school, including whole-class teaching during teacher absence or PPA cover.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers to plan, prepare and adapt learning activities that meet the needs of all pupils.
  • Support pupils to achieve their full potential by promoting high expectations, engagement and positive outcomes.
  • Provide targeted interventions and additional support for individuals and groups of pupils, including those with SEND and disadvantaged learners.
  • Assess, monitor and record pupil progress, providing timely feedback to teachers and contributing to pupil progress discussions.

Pay range:
  • SCP 19 - 23 - £15,351.74 - £16,487.86
  • FTE: £33,119.00 - £35,570.00
