Job summary

Protocol Education Limited is recruiting enthusiastic Teaching Assistants to join a welcoming primary school in BS31 from January 2027. You will support children in Key Stage 2, helping them build confidence and core skills while working with the class teacher to deliver targeted support.

You may work one-to-one or in small groups, focusing on reading, writing and maths. A DBS Update Service is required, or you must be willing to obtain one as part of the registration process.

Qualifications

• Able to support KS2 pupils aged 7–11.
• Experience supporting children, professional or voluntary.
• Willing to obtain an enhanced DBS Update Service if not already held.

Responsibilities

• Support KS2 pupils to access learning and reach individual goals.
• Assist in reading, writing and maths interventions alongside teachers.
• Help children build confidence, independence and positive learning habits.
• Support pupils with additional needs within the classroom environment.

As pupils return after the Christmas break, schools are preparing for a busy and important term ahead, and we're looking for enthusiastic Teaching Assistants to join a welcoming primary school in BS31 from January 2027.

This is a fantastic opportunity to support children during their Key Stage 2 journey, helping them build confidence, strengthen core skills and achieve their potential. Whether you're supporting pupils one-to-one, leading small intervention groups or working alongside the class teacher, you'll play a key role in helping children thrive both academically and socially.

Experience supporting children with additional needs is beneficial, but what matters most is your enthusiasm, patience and desire to make a difference. If you've worked in sports coaching, youth work, tutoring, childcare or is studying psychology or education, we'd love to hear from you.

What You'll Be Doing

• Supporting KS2 pupils to access learning and reach their individual goals
• Working alongside teachers to deliver targeted support in reading, writing and maths
• Helping children build confidence, independence and positive learning habits
• Supporting pupils with additional needs within the classroom environment
• Encouraging engagement, participation and positive behaviour
• Creating a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment every day

What We're Looking For

• A caring, enthusiastic and proactive individual
• Confidence working with children aged 7-11
• Previous experience supporting children, either professionally or voluntarily
• Experience with SEN is desirable but not essential
• Backgrounds in sports coaching, youth work, tutoring, childcare or psychology are highly transferable
• A DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one

What We Need to Clear You

To complete your registration, we'll need:

• Passport/proof of right to work in the UK
• Two proofs of address (such as a driving licence, utility bill or council tax statement)
• A CV covering the last 10 years of work or education, with any gaps explained
• References covering the last two years, including childcare, education or youth work where applicable
• An overseas police check if you have lived abroad for three months or more in the past five years

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
