Job summary

Aston Education Ltd is looking for a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a Sixth Form College near Victoria station in Central London. Their Ofsted is Good with Outstanding features.

As an LSA, you will work closely with 16-19-year-old students who require additional support to reach their full potential and assist with EHCP/LP development, safeguarding and exams support as reader or scribe.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with students with learning difficulties such as ASC, dyslexia or ADHD.
  • Experience in FE/sixth form settings.
  • GCSE English and Maths (C/4 or above).
  • Level 2 or 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning qualification.
  • SEN-related training.
  • Degree in Computer Science or Maths.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Create a positive learning environment and provide one-on-one or small group support.
  • Assist in developing and implementing EHCP/LP for students.
  • Work as part of the SEND safeguarding team.
  • Support classroom activities, monitor progress and maintain records.
  • Collaborate with other professionals and support exams as reader or scribe.
  • Contribute to attendance and behaviour strategies to aid learning.

Contract: Permanent, full-time, term time only, Monday to Friday 8:45am to 4:45pm

The LSA job

As an LSA, your primary responsibility will be to create a positive and inclusive learning environment while providing one-on-one or small group support to students with SEND.


You'll assist in developing and implementing EHCP/LP, ensuring students receive the appropriate support and interventions. You'll work as part of the SEND safeguarding team.


You will assist with classroom activities, monitor student progress, maintain accurate records, and collaborate with other professionals. You'll also support students in exams as a reader or scribe.


Qualifications & Experience required include:



  • Experience working with students with specific learning difficulties (e.g., ASC, dyslexia, ADHD) or disabilities

  • Experience supporting learners in a further education/sixth form setting

  • GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent) at grade C/4 or above

  • Level 2 or 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools (or equivalent)

  • Training related to SEN

  • Degree or HE qualification in Computer Science or Maths

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills
