Job summary

Prospero Teaching is recruiting a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) for a primary school in Doncaster. You will support pupils 1:1 and in small groups, helping them access learning and participate in class activities.

The role requires patience, a positive attitude and the ability to work as part of a supportive team with teaching staff. DBS checks and right to work in the UK are required.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting children in a school or similar setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work well within a team and follow directions.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 support to pupils to access learning.
  • Assist the class teacher with engaging lessons and activities.

Job Title: Learning Support Assistant (LSA)

Area: Doncaster, South Yorkshire

Start Date: ASAP

Contract Type: Full-time, Long-term

Rate: £90 - £110 per day (dependent on experience and responsibilities)

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm

Responsibilities
  • Support pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups to help them access learning.
  • Assist the class teacher with the delivery of engaging lessons and classroom activities.
  • Encourage pupil participation, confidence, and independence within the classroom.
  • Provide targeted support for children who may require additional academic or pastoral assistance.
What we're looking for
  • Previous experience working with children in a school, childcare, or support setting is desirable.
  • A positive, patient, and flexible approach to supporting young learners.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow direction from teaching staff.
  • Experience supporting children with additional needs would be advantageous but is not essential.
To be eligible, you must
  • Hold Right to Work in the UK.
  • Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service OR be willing to process a new application.
  • Provide two professional child‑related references.
