Job summary

Veritas Education Recruitment Ltd is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant in Middlesbrough for a full-time, long-term post starting ASAP. You will provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEN, helping them access learning and regulate emotions.

The role requires patience, resilience, and a calm approach to manage challenging behaviours; experience with SEN/SEMH is preferred. CPD opportunities and a supportive school leadership team are offered.

Qualifications

• Experience with children or young people with SEN, SEMH or behavioural needs.
• Calm, patient and proactive approach.
• Ability to stay positive during challenging situations.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Graduates, support workers, care workers, youth workers and experienced Teaching Assistants are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEN
• Support children with sensory processing needs and emotional regulation
• Help implement strategies to maintain a positive and structured learning environment
• Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils and staff
• Encourage engagement, independence and positive social interactions
• Support learning activities both inside and outside the classroom
