Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking Teaching Assistants for a primary SEN role in Borehamwood, Hertfordshire. Two positions available for full-time, long-term placements starting September 2026, paid daily £93-£113, with weekly pay.

You will provide 1:1 and small-group support, help pupils access the curriculum, and work closely with teachers and SEN staff in an inclusion-focused school with around 180 pupils.

  • Patient, nurturing and resilient.
  • Passionate about supporting children with additional needs.
  • Confident supporting pupils with autism, communication needs and/or SEMH.
  • Able to build positive relationships with children while maintaining clear and consistent boundaries.
  • Adaptable across different primary age groups.
  • Calm and confident when managing challenging behaviour or emotional needs.
  • Reliable and committed to a full-time, long-term position.
  • Previous experience in a primary school or SEN setting is desirable.

Location: Borehamwood, Hertfordshire

Contract: Full-Time, Long-Term

Pay: £93 - £113 per day, paid weekly

Positions: 2 Teaching Assistants

About the School

This is a smaller-than-average, one-form-entry primary school serving children from Nursery through to Year 6. With around 180 pupils, the school offers a friendly and close-knit environment where staff can develop strong relationships with pupils and work collaboratively as part of a supportive team. The school places a strong emphasis on inclusion, wellbeing, independence and helping every child achieve their potential. Its most recent Ofsted inspection rated the school's early years provision, quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, and leadership and management as Good.

Additional Needs Support
  • EYFS learners who are minimally verbal, supporting communication, engagement and early development.
  • KS1 pupils with autism, helping children access learning, develop independence and manage the school day.
  • KS2 pupils with SEMH needs, supporting emotional regulation, behaviour, confidence and engagement.

Previous experience working within a primary school, SEN setting, specialist provision or similar environment would be highly desirable. However, candidates with relevant transferable experience will also be considered.
