Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a caring SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary SEN school in Merton. The role is full-time and long-term, starting ASAP, supporting pupils with a range of additional needs on a 1:1 and small-group basis.

You will work closely with class teachers and other staff to develop academic and social skills, implement individual support strategies, and provide emotional and pastoral support throughout the school day.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with children with SEN
• Patient, nurturing and encouraging approach
• Confidence supporting pupils with additional needs
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Calm and consistent under pressure
• Experience with autism, complex needs or challenging behaviour desirable

Responsibilities

• Support pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
• Assist with classroom learning and activities
• Support pupils with additional and complex needs
• Help pupils develop communication, independence and social skills
• Implement individual support strategies
• Provide emotional and pastoral support
• Support positive behaviour throughout the school day
• Work closely with teachers and other professionals
