Job summary

Placr Recruitment is recruiting for a Logistics and Shipping Coordinator to join an established manufacturing business in Steyning. The role covers customer orders, imports/exports, stock control and dispatch, with a focus on accurate processing and efficient deliveries.

You will liaise with customers, suppliers and hauliers to ensure smooth operations, manage documentation and maintain accurate records. This on-site role in West Sussex offers a competitive salary and benefits package.

Qualifications

• Confident using Microsoft 365 / Office.
• Strong attention to detail and accurate record keeping.

• Able to work under pressure and use your own initiative.
• Physically capable of carrying out a hands-on logistics role.
• Experience in imports and exports (Desirable).
• Knowledge of customs procedures and documentation (Desirable).
• Counterbalance forklift licence/experience (Desirable).
• Experience using MRP/ERP systems (Desirable).
• Previous manufacturing, logistics or supply chain experience (Desirable).

Responsibilities

• Coordinate customer orders from receipt through to dispatch and delivery.
• Liaise with customers, suppliers, hauliers and transport companies to ensure orders and deliveries run smoothly.
• Provide customers with updates on deliveries, collections and order requirements.
• Coordinate the receipt, storage, picking, packing and dispatch of materials and finished goods.
• Prepare shipments to meet customer packaging, labelling and presentation requirements.
• Manage import and export documentation, ensuring shipments comply with customs and relevant legislation.
• Assist with customs clearance and ensure accurate shipping information is provided.
• Complete goods-in checks, validation and system updates.
• Maintain accurate stock records, stock rotation and FIFO.
• Load and unload deliveries using a counterbalance forklift and other material-handling equipment.
• Support production with the supply of raw materials and packaging.
• Maintain accurate logistics records using ERP/MRP and Microsoft Office systems.
• Work with the Logistics Manager to maximise warehouse space and plan future capacity.
• Maintain high standards of health & safety, housekeeping and security.
• Monitor and maintain accurate records for waste and recycling.
