Job summary

ASC Connections is seeking a Shipping Coordinator near Grays, Essex to manage UK and international orders and export documentation. You will coordinate haulage, maintain stock records, and connect internal teams with clients and freight agents using SAP/Smiles.

The role covers end-to-end Order-to-Cash processes in a collaborative site culture, with a 35-hour week and a rotating 3-week shift. A UK driving licence is preferred and benefits are included.

Qualifications

• Experience in a dual Customer Service and Despatch/Logistics environment.
• Minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent); qualifications in International Trade, Export, or Logistics are advantageous.
• Experience using SAP or similar ERP software is preferred.
• Familiarity with export paperwork, freight forwarders, and haulage coordination.
• Willingness to work a rotating 3-week shift pattern (07:00-15:00 / 08:00-16:00 / 09:00-17:00) with occasional overtime in lieu.
• Full UK driving licence preferred due to location.

Responsibilities

• Receive and process UK and international orders via SAP/Smiles, ensuring pricing and account records are up to date.
• Arrange domestic haulage via TMS, liaise with loading teams and freight forwarders, and generate shipping/export docs.
• Support export procedures with shipping agents and Customs/Excise guidance.
• Manage daily pre-billing queries, monitor carrier performance, and report service levels.
• Maintain stock systems, log shipments, and advise teams on stock availability.
• Assist site administration, visitor/traffic management, and partake in weekly reviews.

A market-leading, global manufacturing business is seeking a versatile Shipping Coordinator to join their team near Grays, Essex. Managing the complete Order-to-Cash process, you will serve as the crucial hub connecting internal teams, external clients, logistics providers, and freight agents.

This role offers a varied daily workload in a well-established company with a collaborative, supportive site culture.

Key Responsibilities

• Customer Service & Order Management: Receive and process UK and international customer orders via SAP/Smiles, ensuring accurate pricing, up-to-date account records, and prompt resolution of product queries.
• Logistics & Freight Coordination: Arrange domestic haulage via TMS, liaise with loading teams and freight forwarders, and generate shipping/export documentation (including CMRs).
• Export & Customs Support: Work alongside shipping agents and Customs/Excise guidance to ensure export procedures run smoothly and export cells remain informed.
• Carrier & Billing Liaison: Manage daily pre-billing queries, monitor carrier delivery performance, and report on monthly service levels against contracts.
• Stock Control & Inventory: Maintain accurate stock systems, log incoming/outgoing shipments, and advise industrial and logistics teams on stock availability versus demand.
• Site Administration: Assist with visitor and traffic management systems, attend weekly performance reviews, and support wider operations during peak periods.

What We're Looking For

• Experience: Proven track record in a dual Customer Service and Despatch/Logistics environment.
• Education: Minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent); formal qualifications in International Trade, Export, or Logistics are highly advantageous.
• Systems Skills: Previous experience using SAP or similar enterprise ERP software is strongly preferred.
• Documentation Knowledge: Familiarity with export paperwork, freight forwarders, and haulage coordination.
• Flexibility & Work Ethic: Willingness to work a rotating 3-week shift pattern (07:00-15:00 / 08:00-16:00 / 09:00-17:00) with occasional overtime during peak demands (compensated via time in lieu).
• Licence: A full UK driving licence is preferred due to the location.
