Job summary

Smurfit Westrock is seeking a Logistics Operator in Nottingham to manage the transport and off-loading of goods, perform stock checks, and support production with timely material handling. You will operate counter-balance and clamp forklifts, pick materials for the sheeting department, and ensure accurate recording in the stock systems.

The role emphasizes teamwork, adherence to health and safety procedures, and proactive contribution to department improvements.

Responsibilities

• Transporting and off-loading goods from HGV/LGV using counter-balance forklift.
• Manually picking material for the sheeting department.
• Use of stock management and planning systems to book in material and issue orders.
• Move reels and operate clamps to transfer stock within the warehouse.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of the Logistics department.
• Cover other warehouse duties during busy periods.
• Maintain safety and quality standards in all tasks.

Job description

Reporting to the General Manager, the Logistics Operator’s main responsibility is transport and offload goods from HGV using counterbalance trucks and clamp trucks.,

• Manually picking material ready to go to sheeting department
• Use of the Vision II Stock Management system, booking in material from daily scheduled deliveries, issuing orders to Sheeter and checking stock levels & locations.
• Use of the Virtual Work Ticket system to check job criteria and status.
• Use the PSA production planning system to check job status.
• Transporting and off-loading goods from HGV / LGV vehicles inbound and outbound of varying descriptions, sizes and weights using a counter-balance fork-lift truck and Manual pallet trucks.
• Working closely with the Purchasing Department to ensure all the material is present and correct for Production.
• Helping to continuously improve the Logistics department
• Assisting in the other areas in busier times.
• Operation of the Guillotine where required - full training will be given
• Any other warehouse duties as necessary.
• Moving reels from storage to sheeting using clamp truck.
• To work in a safe manner adhering to health and safety procedures
• Participate as part of a team to maximise machine efficiency
• To achieve the highest possible quality standards working within the guidelines outlined in the established quality systems to achieve customer specification
• Carrying out regular maintenance tasks and checks on Fork Lift Trucks.
• Carry out required in process checks (paper and electronic recording).
• When necessary, cover alternative shifts during holiday or busier periods., To lead by example and work in a safe manner adhering to our health and safety procedures and safe systems of working.
