Job summary

University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust is seeking a Locum Consultant in Upper GI Surgery to cover emergency and routine upper GI cases within the GI Surgical CMG. The role involves supporting the on-call rota, clinical governance, audits and CPD while continuing personal professional development.

The post requires full GMC registration, MB BS, and Higher Specialist Training accreditation, with opportunities for teaching, supervision of junior staff, and involvement in service development

Qualifications

• MB BS or equivalent and full GMC registration.
• Fully accredited for Higher Specialist Training or eligible for Specialist Register within 6 months.
• Current BLS certification and MRCS or equivalent.
• Membership of relevant specialist societies.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, treat and manage patient care in upper GI surgery.
• Cover planned absences and support the on-call rota.
• Participate in teaching, training and assessment of medical staff.
• Engage in audits, CPD, governance and mandatory meetings.
• Maintain GMC standards and Trust protocols, including appraisal and revalidation.
