Job summary

Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust wishes to appoint two consultants in Upper GI Surgery to develop the Emergency General Surgery service as part of a phased expansion. The posts include an elective component and a busy on-call rota at Gloucestershire Royal and Cheltenham General Hospitals.

The appointees will join 18 surgeons across subspecialty teams, contribute to waiting list targets, and participate in education, research, and service development within a supportive NHS

Qualifications

• Full GMC registration and medical qualification.
• FRCS or equivalent surgical leadership and fellowship.
• GMC Specialist Register via CCT or CESR pathway.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality care in Upper GI and emergency general surgery.
• Share on-call and weekend rota with the team.
• Lead education, supervision and training of junior staff.
• Engage in clinical governance, audits and research.
• Contribute to service development and waiting list targets.
