Job summary

University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust is recruiting a Consultant General Surgeon to lead clinical duties within the department. You will contribute to service development and work with GPs and commissioners to improve patient care.

The post involves teaching and training junior staff, participating in audits and CPD, and ensuring high standards of clinical governance. Expect leadership responsibilities and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• MB BS or Equivalent and Full GMC Registration are essential criteria.
• Fully Accredited for Higher Specialist Training or eligible for Specialist Register within 6 months of interview date.
• Current BLS Certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee prevention, diagnosis and treatment of illness within the department.
• Supervise junior medical staff and ensure compliance with policies and training.
• Teach, examine and contribute to undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing medical education.
• Participate in medical audit and CPD as part of Clinical Governance responsibilities.
