Job summary

Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust invites applications for two Consultant posts in Upper GI Surgery with an Emergency General Surgery component. The roles are intended to develop regional services, integrate with pancreatobiliary, oesophagogastric and colorectal teams, and expand emergency surgical care within a large general surgical unit.

The posts include an elective component to assist with waiting list targets and potential development of ambulatory pathways and hot clinics.

Qualifications

• Full GMC registration and qualification in surgery.
• Experience in Upper GI and emergency general surgery preferred.
• Ability to lead and supervise junior medical staff.
• Commitment to CPD / CME and clinical governance.

Responsibilities

• Share responsibility for high‑quality care in the department.
• Attend on‑call and out‑of‑hours rota as required.
• Support and supervise junior medical staff and trainees.
• Participate in departmental and trust meetings for service development.
• Engage in audit, risk management and quality improvement.
