Job summary

Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is recruiting a 12-month fixed-term NHS Locum Consultant to join the Microbiology team. The post is based at Southport Hospital and involves full-time hours (10 PAs) with agile working considered and on-call requirements.

The role includes opportunities to lead Antimicrobial Stewardship, participate in MDTs, OPAT, and broader laboratory services across multiple sites within the MWL Trust.

Qualifications

• Full GMC registration at the time of application.
• FRCPath or equivalent medical qualification.
• MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
• MRCP or equivalent medical qualification.
• MD/PhD or equivalent medical qualification.

Responsibilities

• Lead antimicrobial stewardship and OPAT services where appropriate.
• Contribute to MDT meetings and ward presence as needed.
• Provide pathology and microbiology support across MWL NHS Trust sites.
