Job summary

Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting a Band 6 Lived Experience Practitioner to contribute personal recovery experience to support people with Complex Emotional Needs within the Specialist Psychotherapies Service.

The role focuses on co-facilitating groups, offering recovery-oriented care, and shaping service development with staff training. A strong emphasis on safeguarding, confidentiality, and trauma-informed practice is required.

Qualifications

• Holds lived experience of recovery from distress diagnosed as Complex Emotional Needs.
• Demonstrates excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
• Understands issues and concerns of mental health service users.

Responsibilities

• Co-facilitating the Moving On Group, supporting service users as they transition from therapy and continue recovery.
• Create a safe, compassionate, recovery-focused environment.
• Share lived experience to inspire and support others in their recovery.
• Work with multidisciplinary colleagues to deliver psychologically informed and trauma-informed support.
• Support staff understanding through consultation, reflective discussions and training.
• Build effective relationships with colleagues.
• Maintain accurate records and participate in supervision within safeguarding and professional frameworks.
