Job summary

Rethink Mental Illness in Macclesfield/Crewe is seeking a Lived Experience Recovery Worker to provide peer support within our Involvement, Recovery & Wellness Service, in partnership with Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.

Use your own recovery journey to inspire hope, promote wellbeing, and empower people to reach their goals through individual and group work, alongside healthcare professionals and volunteers.

Qualifications

• Personal lived experience of recovery from mental illness.
• Ability to use experiences to support and encourage others.
• Excellent listening and communication skills.
• Compassionate, patient and non-judgemental approach.
• Commitment to recovery-focused and person-centred support.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Alignment with Rethink Mental Illness values and behaviours.
• Desirable: experience in paid or voluntary support roles and related qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one peer support and key worker interventions.
• Facilitate peer-led recovery and wellbeing groups.
• Support people to identify and achieve personal goals.
• Encourage access to community resources and opportunities.
• Promote positive mental and physical wellbeing.
• Maintain accurate records and support service monitoring.
• Build positive relationships with service users, colleagues and partners.
• Represent the service at local community events and forums.
