Job summary

Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting a Band 7/8a Preceptorship Practitioner Psychologist for the Recovery House in Birmingham. This one‑year post offers 37.5 hours weekly in a flexible, permanent capacity, within an urgent care pathway.

The role requires a Doctoral level qualification in psychology, HCPC registration, and experience in trauma-informed care, with leadership duties and supervision of junior staff within a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• British Psychological Society accredited Doctoral level training in clinical/forensic/counselling psychology with coursework in models of psychopathology and psychometrics.
• Eligibility for the Register of Chartered Psychologists and HCPC registration.
• Experience in specialist psychological assessment and treatment across care settings.
• Experience in working with diverse client groups in multicultural urban areas.

Responsibilities

• Provide psychological formulations and short-term interventions (CBT, trauma-informed approaches).
• Supervise and develop an Assistant Psychologist and team members.
• Support crisis planning, reflective practice, and risk formulation.
• Embed culturally responsive and trauma-informed care across the service.
• Liaise with NHS and community services to support safe transitions.
