Job summary

Telefónica Tech UK&I is seeking an experienced Level 3 Linux Engineer to support, maintain, and enhance critical Linux environments. You will troubleshoot complex issues and lead the delivery of high-impact projects to ensure reliability and performance.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize security, scalability, and efficiency of Linux-based systems, while guiding and mentoring junior engineers and aligning with industry best practices.

Qualifications

  • Deep expertise with Linux operating systems and environments.
  • Experience with VMware, AD, DHCP, DNS, PKI, backups, Citrix, storage, and data center concepts.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot complex Linux environments and ensure reliability.

Job Description

We are seeking an experiencedLevel 3 Linux Engineerto support, maintain, and enhance critical Linux environments. This role involves troubleshooting complex issues, ensuring system reliability, and leading the delivery of high-impact projects. The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to optimize performance, security, and scalability of Linux-based systems.

You will have deep expertise and experience in Linux operating systems and environments. You will also have good foundational knowledge in multiple capabilities ranging from VMware, Windows Active Directory Services, DHCP, DNS, PKI, File Services, SQL, Backups, Citrix, Storage, and Data Center.

Collaboration will be a key aspect of this role as you will work closely with Technical Services colleagues and Project Teams to deliver new services, upgrades, and BAU support. Drawing upon your technical expertise and experience, you will ensure that services are built in alignment with industry and contractual best practices. You will expected to offer technical insights and challenging solutions to ensure the adoption of best practices. Additionally, you will play a vital role in continuously providing security assurance for all services and actively seek opportunities for service and process improvements.

In this role, we expect you to be confident and proactive, unafraid to challenge existing solutions and recommend best practices. As a Level 3 Linux Engineer, you will be relied upon for your technical prowess and will provide guidance and assistance to the wider team whilst also being able to service as a coach and mentor to junior members. You will also assist with any escalations within the team to aid incident and problem resolution, while maintaining a strong focus on delivering continuous service improvements.

We expect you to possess exceptional troubleshooting skills and the ability to work independently. Your proactive approach to addressing technical challenges will contribute to the continuous improvement of our infrastructure.
