Job summary

The Grand Hotel Birmingham Limited is seeking a Linen Porter to join the team on a part‑time basis, with 16+ hours weekly and weekend shifts. You will transport linen, support day‑to‑day housekeeping operations and help maintain high standards for guests across the hotel.

This active role requires physical work and flexibility to cover weekends and bank holidays. The job includes staying connected with the wider team to ensure a memorable guest experience throughout arrival and departure.

Responsibilities

• Receive, check and distribute linen deliveries, reporting discrepancies as required.
• Transport clean and soiled linen around the hotel using safe handling techniques.
• Keep linen stores tidy and compliant with health and safety standards.
• Assist the Housekeeping team with operational requests including deliveries of cots, extra beds and amenities.
• Collaborate with colleagues to ensure guests have a smooth experience from arrival to departure.

At The Grand Hotel Birmingham, every detail matters. Behind every beautifully presented guest room is a dedicated team working together to deliver exceptional standards, and as a Linen Porter, you'll play an essential role in making that happen.

As a Linen Porter you'll ensure clean linen is delivered where it's needed, support the smooth day-to-day operation of the hotel and help maintain the high standards our guests expect. This is an active, hands‑on role that involves transporting linen throughout the hotel and supporting the wider Housekeeping team.

This is a part‑time position working 16+ hours per week - particularly over weekends (Saturday and Sunday).

Typical shift patterns: 9:00am – 5:30pm or 10:00am – 6:30pm.

Due to the nature of the role, flexibility is essential, including availability to work weekends and bank holidays as required.

What you'll be doing;

• Receiving, checking and distributing linen deliveries, reporting any discrepancies where required.
• Transporting clean and soiled linen safely throughout the hotel, using safe manual handling techniques and maintaining high housekeeping standards.
• Keeping linen stores and back‑of‑house areas organised, well‑stocked and compliant with health and safety requirements.
• Supporting the Housekeeping team with operational requests, including the delivery of cots, extra beds and guest amenities.
• Working collaboratively with colleagues to ensure our guests enjoy an exceptional experience from arrival to departure.

What we're looking for;

• A positive, reliable and proactive approach with a strong work ethic.
• Comfortable in a physically active role involving regular lifting, carrying and moving linen and equipment throughout the hotel.
• Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks.
• A team player with good communication skills and a commitment to maintaining exceptional standards.
• Previous housekeeping or hospitality experience is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided.
