Job summary

Airbus Operations Limited's EMH Lightning Direct Effects group invites undergraduates to a 12.5-month placement based in Filton, Bristol, starting 16 August 2027. You will join a transnational team to develop expertise in aircraft lightning protection and electrostatic discharge, gaining hands-on experience across development, certification and in-service support.

Qualifications

• Studying towards an Engineering or Technical degree, ideally Electrical, Aeronautical, Mechanical or Physics based.
• Natural curiosity to explore engineering principles and create solutions based on evidence.
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely; collaboration within the team is essential.
• Organisational skills to plan resources to meet goals and maintain high standards.
• A keen interest in the Aerospace industry and profession.

Responsibilities

• Contribute as an Engineer in EMH Lightning Direct Effects and Electrostatic Discharge within Airbus Systems Engineering.
• Engage with topics like electromagnetic hazards, standardisation, electrical architectures and certification.
• Design or witness commissioning or investigative tests and analyse results with conclusions.
• Aid in developing optimised lightning protection solutions for fuel systems.
• Collaborate to harmonise design solutions across multi-programmes and departments.
