Job summary

WSP is seeking a Lighting Engineer to join our Lighting & Energy Solutions team in the UK. You will design, document and support lighting projects from conception through construction, liaising with clients and multidisciplinary teams to deliver high‑quality outcomes.

You will work with external standards, coordinate with manufacturers and contractors, and contribute to proposals and CPD initiatives while supporting local government and strategic road network clients.

Qualifications

• Experience with lighting design from concept to construction.
• Strong knowledge of external lighting standards and regulations.
• Ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders and teams.
• Eng Tech registration with Engineering Council would be beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Liaise with Lighting & Energy Solutions team and clients.
• Produce detailed design layouts and drawings per QA requirements.
• Support feasibility studies, option reports and specifications.
• Engage with luminaire, column, controls and electrical manufacturers.
• Coordinate with contractors; respond to RFIs and TQs.
• Conduct site visits to support lighting assessments and drawings.
• Support development of project proposals and progress tracking.
• Assist engagement with Local Authority and Strategic Road Network clients.
• Mentor and support Early Career Professionals.
