Job summary

WSP is seeking a Senior Lighting Engineer to join our Lighting & Energy Solutions team in the UK. You will lead lighting design projects from concept to construction, with a focus on public sector and SRN projects, in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment across the UK.

You will bring extensive experience with Lighting Reality or Dialux and AutoCAD, strong communication skills, and the ability to coach junior engineers.

Qualifications

• Proficient in Lighting Reality or Dialux lighting design software and AutoCAD.
• A solid understanding of external lighting standards, guidance, legislation and regulations.
• Good general awareness of electrical design and lighting maintenance operations.
• Demonstrated ability to design lighting from concept to construction issue.
• Understanding of central management systems.
• Ability to work independently and in a team with strong communication and organisation.
• Capable of coaching and developing junior team members.
• Experience in Local Government or Strategic Road Network sectors.
• Membership of a relevant professional organisation and progress towards Eng Tech / IEng.

Responsibilities

• Liaise with multidisciplinary teams, stakeholders and clients on lighting projects.
• Produce detailed design layouts, drawings and documentation per QA and client requirements.
• Prepare feasibility reports, option studies and specifications.
• Engage with luminaire, column, controls and electrical manufacturers.
• Coordinate with contractors including site support, RFIs and TQs.
• Complete non-intrusive site visits to support lighting assessments and as-builts.
• Support development of proposals and monitor progress against milestones and budget.
• Liaise with Local Authority and SRN clients to build strong relationships.
• Evaluate client briefs and provide expert guidance and tailored support.
• Mentor and guide junior team members and early career professionals.
