Job summary

Brent Council seeks an Licensing and Enforcement Processing Officer to handle Private Rented Sector licence applications from initial submission through to issue, performing eligibility checks and ensuring compliance with Council requirements.

You will support applicants and licence holders, offering clear guidance via phone, email and in person, while maintaining accurate records and liaising with internal and external agencies.

Qualifications

• Experience processing Private Rented Sector licences and property licensing.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy when processing applications and maintaining records.
• Clear communication and a customer-focused approach across multiple channels.

Responsibilities

• Process a wide range of Private Rented Sector licence applications from submission to issue, carrying out checks and ensuring compliance with statutory and Council requirements.
• Provide a proactive, responsive service to applicants and licence holders, guiding landlords, tenants and the public through the licensing process.
• Maintain accurate licensing records, perform checks with internal/external agencies, and manage documentation and fees.
• Collaborate with colleagues and partner services to progress applications and refer complex matters appropriately.
