Job summary

North Northamptonshire Council in Thrapston is seeking a part-time Licensing Administration Service Support Officer to join a busy licensing team. You will provide accurate guidance to applicants and licence holders, and process licensing applications pro‑rata with a salary between 28,153 and 28,608 pounds.

The role offers a flexible hybrid working arrangement and an employer that supports development and wellbeing. Closing date 16/10/2026.

Qualifications

  • Educated to 4 GCSEs Grade C or above, including English and Maths.
  • Experience in an administration/customer service environment.
  • Experience in dealing with enquiries and communicating with the public.
  • Appreciation of need and purpose of Licensing.
  • Computer literate in Windows and Internet.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and manage own caseload.
  • Ability to handle difficult situations.
  • Ability to follow written procedures and processes.
  • Ability to work well as a team.
  • Self-motivated.

Responsibilities

  • Providing advice and guidance to applicants, licence holders and customers on licensing processes, policies and procedures.
  • Processing licence, permit, registration and notice applications accurately and within required timescales.
  • Managing consultations and liaising with relevant agencies, stakeholders and representatives.
  • Maintaining accurate records and verifying documentation using internal and external databases.
  • Ensuring licensing records are compliant with data protection, FOI and data retention requirements.
  • Checking, recording and charging licensing fees accurately.
  • Identifying and escalating issues to the Licensing Enforcement Team where formal action may be required.
  • Producing reports and management information to support service delivery and performance monitoring.
  • Supporting the development and maintenance of licensing forms, guidance documents, website content and internal procedures.
  • Managing the Licensing inbox, responding to enquiries and directing requests to the appropriate team or service.
  • Working with partners including the Police, Home Office Immigration Enforcement, Trading Standards and Customer Services to support licensing activities.
  • Delivering a professional, customer-focused service that helps ensure compliance with licensing legislation and promotes safe, well-regulated communities.

Join our Licensing team and play a key role in delivering efficient and effective licensing administration services across North Northamptonshire. You will provide accurate advice and guidance to applicants, licence holders and their representatives, ensuring applications are processed in line with relevant legislation, regulations and council procedures.
