Job summary

Essex County Council is recruiting a Customer Services Assistant for Colchester Central Library. This full-time, permanent role includes working every Saturday and offers a salary of up to £25,959 per annum. Location: Colchester.

You will help with book circulation, signpost customers to different services, and be the friendly face of our libraries. You will engage with a diverse range of customers, deliver Rhymetime sessions for families, assist customers to use the library catalogue, and help

Qualifications

Demonstration that you can use IT systems or have the ability to learn them.
Customer service experience in any area.
Confidence in speaking to customers and signposting them to Library services and partner organisations.
Enthusiasm and ideas for engaging customers.
Enjoy working within a team to make us as brilliant as possible.

Responsibilities

Help customers with self-service equipment with empathy and patience.
Arranging and conducting Rhymetime sessions for families with babies and toddlers.
Promote Health & Safety and sort issues as they arise.
Assist with promotions to generate income across libraries.
Help customers use the library catalogue and access full library offers.
Manage stock circulation: sorting, shelving, tidying, reservations, fines and memberships.
Use data to focus on improving customer and staff experience.
Support smaller libraries with unlocking/locking up as a trusted keyholder.
