Essex County Council's libraries are evolving to provide better experiences for customers. We are recruiting a part-time Customer Services Assistant to work in our Epping and North Weald libraries, 18.5 hours per week including Saturdays, with a pro rata salary of £12,979.

You'll support book circulation, signpost customers to services, assist with IT, and run children-focused activities like rhyme time. Travel to other local libraries may be required.

Qualifications

• Demonstrate ability to use IT systems or learn quickly.
• Customer service experience in any area.
• Confidence in speaking to customers and signposting to library services and council services.
• Enthusiasm and ideas for improving customer experience.

Responsabilités

• Assisting with book circulation and issuing, signposting to services.
• Help customers use the library catalogue and access the full library offer.
• Ensure stock circulation: sorting, shelving, tidying, handling reservations and memberships.
• Deliver story and rhyme sessions to groups of parents and toddlers.
• Support health and safety and help unlock/lock smaller libraries; act as a trusted keyholder when needed.
• Assist with promotional activities and ideas that can be rolled out across libraries.
