Job summary

Teaching Personnel is recruiting a Teaching Assistant to support pupils in Preston, Lancashire. The role involves 1:1 support, helping with group activities, and assisting teachers with engaging lessons, while promoting social, emotional and academic development.

The successful candidate will work closely with therapists and school staff, supporting behaviour, independence, and communication. A Level 3 TA qualification and an Enhanced DBS are required or in process.

Qualifications

  • A Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).
  • Experience supporting children or young people with Special Educational Needs.
  • A caring, patient, and resilient approach.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
  • Assisting teachers in delivering engaging and differentiated lessons.
  • Encouraging pupils' social, emotional, and academic development.
  • Promoting positive behaviour and supporting pupils to reach their individual goals.

Location: Preston, Lancashire
Contract: Full-time | Temporary to Permanent
Start Date: September 2026 (or ASAP)
Salary: Competitive daily rate (dependent on experience)

The role will involve:
  • Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
