Job summary

Teaching Personnel is recruiting for a dedicated Level 3 SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEN school in Preston on a temporary-to-permanent basis. The role involves supporting pupils aged 4-16 with EHCPs and a range of needs, including autism and complex needs, both 1:1 and in small groups, and assisting teachers with engaging, differentiated lessons.

Qualifications

  • A Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).
  • Experience supporting children or young people with Special Educational Needs.
  • A caring, patient, and resilient approach.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one.

Responsibilities

  • Support pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
  • Assist teachers in delivering engaging and differentiated lessons.
  • Encourage pupils' social, emotional, and academic development.
  • Promote positive behaviour and support pupils to reach goals.
  • Support pupils with communication, independence, and personal care as required.
  • Work closely with teachers, therapists, and the wider school team.

Contract: Full-time | Temporary to Permanent through agency

Start Date: September 2026

Salary: Competitive daily rate (dependent on experience)

Teaching Personnel is recruiting on behalf of a specialist SEN school in Preston for a dedicated and compassionate Level 3 SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team on a temporary-to-permanent basis. The school supports pupils aged 4-16 with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and a range of additional needs, including autism, communication difficulties, moderate to severe learning difficulties, and complex needs. The school provides a supportive, nurturing, and inclusive environment where every pupil is encouraged to achieve their full potential.

The role will involve:
  • Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
  • Assisting teachers in delivering engaging and differentiated lessons.
  • Encouraging pupils' social, emotional, and academic development.
  • Promoting positive behaviour and supporting pupils to reach their individual goals.
  • Supporting pupils with communication, independence, and personal care where required.
  • Working closely with teachers, therapists, and the wider school team.
To be considered, you will need:
  • A Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).
  • Experience supporting children or young people with Special Educational Needs.
  • A caring, patient, and resilient approach.
