Job summary

Teaching Personnel is recruiting an SEN Teaching Assistant in Preston, Lancashire, to support pupils with complex needs including ASC, SEMH and communication difficulties. This temp to perm role offers stability after a successful probation and opportunities for professional development.

You will provide 1:1 and small group support, assist with personalised learning and behavior management, and work closely with teachers and therapists to create a positive, inclusive classroom.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN, SEMH or Autism is desirable.
  • Patient, resilient and adaptable with a genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and consistent when supporting pupils with challenging behaviours.
  • Relevant qualifications welcomed but not essential for candidates with suitable experience.

Responsibilities

Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with a specialist SEN school to recruit a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join their team on a temporary to permanent basis. This is an excellent opportunity to support children and young people with a range of complex needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, communication difficulties, and associated learning needs. The school provides a nurturing and structured environment where every pupil is encouraged to achieve their full potential.

The Role:
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with additional needs.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
