Job summary

The Holy Brook School in Reading is seeking a Level 3 SEN Teaching Assistant to join our supportive, caring team. You will work under the guidance of teachers to deliver tailored support for pupils aged 5-11 with SEMH needs, autism, or ASD.

The role is full time, term-time only plus INSET days, and focuses on promoting emotional regulation, confidence, and positive engagement in learning. We value patience, adaptability, and a nurturing approach as you help create a calm, inclusive classroom

Qualifications

• Experience in supporting children with SEN/SEMH in educational settings.
• Knowledge of autism/ASD and SEMH.
• Strong literacy and numeracy basics.

Job description

Full Time, Term Time Only to include Inset days. The Holy Brook School is a specialist community special school in Reading supporting primary-aged pupils (5-11 years) who experience Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Many of our wonderful pupils are neurodivergent, including those with autism (ASD) and ADHD. Our goal is to create a safe, nurturing, and structured environment where children can emotionally regulate, build confidence, and truly thrive. This role is working 5 days per week, term time only + INSET days, and is ideal for someone passionate about supporting children's learning and wellbeing within a friendly school community.

The Role:

We are looking for a caring, energetic, and resilient Level 3 SEN Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated and welcoming team. You will work closely with teachers and pastoral staff to deliver tailored support and help pupils engage positively with their learning.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support pupils with SEN and SEMH needs on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
• Assist the class teacher with learning activities and resource preparation.
• Help maintain a calm, positive, and inclusive classroom environment.
• Encourage emotional regulation, communication, and social independence.
• Build strong, trusting relationships with our pupils.
