Job summary

Skegness Grammar School is seeking a flexible security/caretaker to manage lettings and campus safety during shifts. The role includes patrolling, signing in lettings, operating building systems and reporting hazards.

The post involves end-of-shift checks and ensuring all doors, gates and alarms are secured. The role is described as zero hours, casual contract, with salary as per NJC8 and benefits including Local Government Pension Scheme and other wellbeing programs.

Qualifications

  • Experience in dealing with regular system inspections such as heating and security;
  • Knowledge of policies and procedures for security, alarm systems, health and safety;
  • Minor maintenance and repair skills

Responsibilities

  • Patrol site to ensure campus is safe and secure during the shift and take remedial action if required
  • Act as the designated point of contact and key holder for the academy premises during the shift
  • Operate heating, cooling, lighting and security systems when required
  • Conduct health and safety checks and report hazards to line manager
  • Meet and sign in lettings in line with Health and Safety procedures
  • Record and monitor lettings attendance
  • Facilitate lettings and carry out associated tasks in line with local agreements
  • Undertake regular health and safety checks of buildings, grounds, fixtures and fittings
  • Patrol site at shift end to ensure all external doors and windows are secure and no occupants remain
  • Open up indoor lettings 15 minutes prior to session start; for hockey 45 minutes prior
  • Sweep and tidy changing rooms, corridors and toilets; empty bins
  • Ensure equipment is safe to use and weights secured; ensure floodlights and lights are off and doors/gates secure
  • Monitor stock levels
  • All equipment returned to storage after lettings

Job description

To be responsible for the safety of lettings, customers and security of the campus during a specific time period, ensuring site is left tidy, secure and alarmed at each shift end.

To ensure the security of the academy and to provide excellent service to all internal and external lettings during a specific period of time.

Each academy is organised differently and any combination of the duties below will be in accordance with the specific requirements of the academy.

The duties listed below are not exhaustive and other similar duties commensurate with grade and responsibilities may be undertaken and are not excluded simply because they are not itemised.

  • Patrol site to ensure campus is safe and secure during the shift and take remedial action if required

Act as the designated point of contact and key holder for the academy premises during the shift.

Operate systems such as heating, cooling, lighting and security when required.

Perform duties in line with health and safety regulations and take action where hazards are identified, report serious hazards to line manager immediately

Meet and sign in lettings in line with Health and Safety procedures

Record and monitor lettings attendance

Facilitate lettings and carry out associated tasks, in line with local agreements

Undertake regular health and safety checks of buildings, grounds, fixtures and fittings, (including compliance with fire safety regulations) to ensure the continued safety of occupants.

Patrol site at shift end to ensure ALL external doors and window are secure and no occupants remain.

To open up indoor lettings at least 15 minutes prior to the start of the session.

For Hockey matches the facility must be open 45 minutes prior to the start of the session

Sweep up in the changing rooms and clean around between teams. Ensure corridors, changing rooms and toilets remain clean and tidy at all times. Sweeping and mopping to be carried out when required. Emptying bins etc.

Ensure that all the equipment is safe to use and where weights are required to secure goal posts they are in place and to ensure that all equipment is being used safely and correctly.

Clean sports hall floor as and when required to maintain safety.

To pick up all litter on and off the pitch at the end of each letting

All equipment to be returned to its storage space after every letting.

To ensure all floodlights, internal lights are switched off and that all doors, gates within the school are secure and Alarm security systems for both premises at shift end, contact monitoring station to ensure alarm has set and lock gates on exit.

Who we are looking for

Experience in dealing with regular system inspections such as heating and security; and the organisation of emergency repairs or decisions on planned maintenance

Stock control of designated equipment and materials

Educated to GCSE level

Knowledge of policies and procedures for security, alarm systems, health and safety, minor repairs & maintenance

Knowledge and expertise in minor maintenance and repair
