Job summary

Humberston Academy in Grimsby is seeking a motivated Teaching Assistant to support teachers’ strategies and enable all students to access a knowledge‑rich, inclusive curriculum. You will work with the Quality of Education Team and contribute to SEND reviews in partnership with the SENCO and external agencies.

• Plan and undertake routine learning activities with individuals or groups to support development.
• Monitor conduct and behaviour and help de-escalate challenging situations to maintain a safe learning environment.

We aim to reduce barriers to learning for our mostvulnerable students through co-ordination of intervention and TeachingAssistant deployment.

As a Teaching Assistant in our Academy, you workeffectively with the 'Quality of Education Team' to support teachers'strategies in order for all students to access a knowledge rich and inclusivecurriculum.

You also support SENCO responsibilities including working withexternal agencies and families including timely reviews following the SEND Codeof Practice.

Our recent Ofsted inspection stated, "Pupils' additionalneeds, including any special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), arequickly identified. The school works with external professionals to provide anyadditional support that these pupils may need. Teachers help pupils with SENDto access the curriculum. Pupils who access the school's 'Hive' provision areparticularly well supported by the school".

Therefore, we are looking for a motivated and enthusiasticcandidate to become part of this integral team at Humberston.

• Develop an in depth understanding of the specific needs ofindividual and groups of student(s)
• Guide, support and empower students to develop and worktowards individual personal care objectives and enhance personal, emotional andsocial development.
• Assess, plan, organise and provide practical assistance inrelation to identified physical needs e.g. transportation, dressing, mealtimes, and organisation of learning equipment to support personal, health,social and emotional development (PHSE) to promote independence.
• Observe individuals and groups of students' personal,social and learning achievements. Maintain appropriate records, monitorprogression and attainment and provide reports and information to inform andsupport the assessment process.
• Plan, organise and undertake routine learning activitieswith either individuals or groups of students to facilitate their physical,emotional, social and educational development.
• Monitor students' and young people's conduct and behaviourthroughout the mainstream learning process and intervene to resolve complex,difficult or challenging issues using appropriate techniques, skills,strategies and routine sanctions to de-escalate potentially very difficultsituations or resolve conflict with individual and groups of students.Establish, maintain or restore a safe and calm atmosphere conducive to learningwhich ensures the safety and wellbeing of students, staff and visitors.
• Providing guidance, assistance, information and support toengage all students in learning activities to enable informed choices abouteducational and life opportunities.
• Carrying out routine administrative tasks i.e.photocopying, basic record keeping, and basic IT skills.
• Evaluate individual student contribution and providefeedback to the teacher and other colleagues suggesting alternative methods ofdifferentiation that respond to identified needs.
• Preparing and clearing up classroom materials and learningareas ensuring that they are available for use.
• Present displays in the allocated learning environment toenhance the learning experience and celebrate the achievements of students andprovide information.
• Organise and participate in the supervision of individualsand groups of students in dining, playground and circulation areas throughoutthe day. Ensure that students are engaged in appropriate activity and interveneto maintain behaviour standards and ensure wellbeing, safety and welfare.
• Participate in the organisation of and support educationalvisits and outings to enhance the students' learning experience.
• Attend training courses to respond to identified needs,support the Academy and contribute to on-going professional development.

Permanent, 32.5 hours per week, 39 weeks per year.

Salary & Benefits
