Job summary

Leisure People is assisting in the recruitment of an Assistant Manager for a group of sports, leisure, swimming, and fitness facilities in Luton. The role emphasizes safe, hygienic operations and an engaging guest experience, with a competitive salary and excellent benefits.

The candidate will lead diverse teams, manage budgets, and contribute to health and safety initiatives, programming, and events across centres in the Luton area.

Qualifications

• Experience in managing multi-faceted venue operations with health and safety focus.
• NPLQ qualification or equivalent poolside certification.
• Experience leading, coaching and developing large teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead poolside operations, safety checks, water chemistry and lifeguard rotations.
• Manage operational teams, recruitment, development and performance.
• Take group lead on health and safety or Aquatics/Group Exercise programming as applicable.
• Monitor and improve programmes to meet community needs and financial targets.
• Support marketing and promotion of centre programmes and activities.
• Adhere to shift pattern 8:00–16:00 or 12:00–20:00, Monday to Friday, one in three weekends.
• Provide cover as General Manager in absence of the postholder.
