Job summary

A leading recruitment consultancy in the UK seeks a Legal Counsel to advise on complex regulatory law issues within the financial services sector. The role involves drafting legislation, supporting enforcement cases, and liaising with stakeholders. Ideal candidates are qualified lawyers with strong drafting and negotiation skills, preferably with experience in financial services. Qualifications

  • Must hold a current practising certificate in the UK, Commonwealth, or another common law jurisdiction.

  • Drafting and amending legislation, rules, regulations, and policies.
  • Providing training to staff.

Job description

This Legal Counsel role offers the chance to work at the forefront of regulatory law, advising on complex issues that shape the financial services sector. Duties for this role include, but are not limited to:
  • Advising on statutory requirements, drafting correspondence, and reviewing agreements.
  • Supporting disclosure, privilege reviews, and supervisory problem cases.
  • Drafting and amending legislation, rules, regulations, and policies.
  • Providing training to staff and supporting internal project boards.
  • Assisting with litigation and court proceedings, including drafting and reporting.
  • Liaising with regulators, licensees, and external stakeholders.
  • Representing the organisation at industry meetings and events.
Skills / Qualifications

The ideal candidate will be a qualified lawyer holding a current practising certificate in the UK, Commonwealth, or another common law jurisdiction. They will demonstrate strong drafting, negotiation, and communication skills, with the ability to balance regulatory demands with pragmatic decision-making. Experience in financial services or regulatory environments would be an advantage.
