Metropolitan Thames Valley Housing has a vision that “everyone has a home and the opportunity to live well.” We work with partners to create sustainable and vibrant neighbourhoods where our customers want to live. With 57,000 homes and over 120,000 residents and customers, we have a real opportunity to make this vision a reality. Our people care, dare, and collaborate to ensure we achieve this - People Powered Living.
Housing compliance is essential to ensuring properties are safe, habitable, and meet tenant needs. The Access team within Compliance and Technical Services manages access to properties for compliance purposes, aiming to prevent court proceedings where possible and to manage possession proceedings after all options are exhausted.
The team is responsible for the access process, mainly for the heating team, and acts as the last point of contact when access is refused or cannot be obtained by contractors or compliance teams. Reporting to the Legal Casework Team Leader, the Legal Caseworker will support the department by managing legal processes related to gaining access to properties to fulfill our obligations as a landlord.
This includes attending court, serving paperwork, and ensuring contractors follow robust access procedures. The role also involves handling cases unrelated to access, such as hoarding, subletting, or anti-social behaviour. The successful candidate will interact with frontline staff, residents, social services, and local authorities, providing support to maintain high standards of service and ensuring legal actions are appropriate and proportionate.
