The Client:

An established international law firm are looking for a temporary Legal Assistant to join their close‑knit team of assistants in their London office. If successful in the temp role, there is the potential to join on an FTC.

They are looking for a motivated, organised, and dedicated assistant to provide additional support to the team and work closely with partners and lawyers across the firm.

Responsibilities will include:
  • Assisting lawyers with document management, deadline management, procedural requirements and case preparation.
  • Handling administrative and organisational tasks and providing general administrative support to lawyers, including managing calendars, scheduling meetings, making travel arrangements, filing expense reports, and handling incoming and outgoing correspondence.
  • Drafting and proofreading of correspondence and legal documents.
  • Supporting hearing preparations, especially in arbitral tribunals.
  • Answering incoming telephone calls, responding to emails and general enquiries.
  • Providing cover for the Receptionist during lunch hours.
  • Assisting on ad hoc projects as required.
Candidate specification:
  • 2 years’ experience in a similar role within a law firm.
  • Ideally a University degree in law or equivalent.
  • Arbitration dispute resolution experience desirable.
  • Must be highly organised, have a keen eye for detail, and is self‑motivated to learn and develop.
  • Proven ability to work in a team as well as autonomously.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and understanding of confidentiality.
  • Excellent written and verbal English is essential; other languages (including French or German) is desirable.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Additional information:
  • This is a temporary role initially, with the view to becoming a fixed‑term contract if successful in a temp capacity.
  • Based on‑site, potential to work from home down the line but not guaranteed.
  • Up to £28 p/hr, based on experience (c.£50k permanent full‑time equivalent).
  • Based in the City of London location, with excellent transport links.
