Job description

Cana Catholic School is a welcoming, supportive and faith-filled community. We are seeking to employ an LSO who is comfortable and competent in working with a range of students with unique needs. An ability to demonstrate flexibility and adaptability when working in a fast paced and quickly changing dynamic within a classroom and school environment is highly desirable.

The successful applicant will:

  • demonstrate a commitment to Catholic education, and will work in partnership with teachers, parents and the wider community.
  • demonstrate an understanding of how to best support students with additional learning needs, as directed by the classroom teacher.
  • be committed to following strategies outlined in a student's Personalised Learning Plan and assist students in class to engage in a broad range of learning activities.
  • nurture and develop the whole person, encompassing all learning areas while recognising individual talents and needs
  • be committed to working in a Child Safe environment in accordance with the Child Safe standards, and the MACS Code of Conduct

The successful applicant will work under the direction of the Learning Diversity and Wellbeing Leader and Deputy Principal, as well as the classroom teacher/s. An understanding of how to best support neurodiverse students would be advantageous.

The successful applicant will:

  • adhere to our Child Safety Policy and Code of Conduct and other policies
  • have a current Working With Children Check
  • have experience as an LSO and/or Certificate III or IV Qualification in Education Support or equivalent.
