Job summary

Truro and Penwith College is seeking a proactive Learning Support Mentor Scheduling Lead to coordinate daily cover for LSMs and oversee timetable implementation across campuses. You will liaise with teaching and support staff to ensure consistent and effective SEND support while maintaining accurate records of attendance and progress.

The role requires strong organisational and communication skills, experience with SEND, and a commitment to student success.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with young people, ideally in an educational setting.
  • Strong organisational, administrative, and IT skills.
  • Experience supporting learners with additional needs/SEND.
  • Ability to build positive relationships and communicate effectively.
  • GCSE Maths and English (Grade 4/C or equivalent).
  • Knowledge of FE sector and qualifications in education or support is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily cover for Learning Support Mentors in response to absence.

Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Learning Support team for a Learning Support Mentor (LSM) Scheduling Lead. This key role is responsible for coordinating daily cover arrangements for Learning Support Mentors, ensuring that students with additional learning needs receive consistent and effective support across all campuses. The postholder will oversee timetable implementation, manage staff deployment, and maintain continuity of support in response to staff absence. There will also be an expectation to provide direct learner support where required, working with students across a range of SEND needs.

Essential

Additional information: This role will involve cross-college working and a high degree of flexibility. You will also be expected to contribute to the wider work of Learning Support and Inclusive Practice. All staff are required to commit to safeguarding, equality and diversity, and continuous professional development.

Salary: £26,092 pro rata

Contract: Fixed term contract

Location: Truro and Penwith College, Truro & Penwith College

Working hours: Full-time (37 hours / week), term-time (38 weeks), fixed-term (12 months)
