Job summary

Bishop Burton College is seeking a Learning Support Assistant to join the Student Support team. You will work with students with diverse needs, supporting both classroom and practical activities to help them engage fully in their learning.

The role requires patience, approachability and a commitment to inclusive education, with opportunities for training and development within a collaborative environment at Bishop Burton College and Riseholme College.

Qualifications

  • Good literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Understanding of safeguarding and inclusive education.
  • Experience supporting students with SEND, complex needs or challenging behaviours would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual and classroom-based support to students with a wide range of learning difficulties and disabilities.
  • Support students alongside teaching staff to participate in academic and practical activities.
  • Assist students around campus, during breaks and lunchtimes, and on arrival at or departure from College.

Actual Salary for Term Time Only 37 Weeks Per Year £19,924, Pro Rata (Full Time Equivalent £24,522)

Monday to Friday 8.30am-5pm

Are you passionate about helping young people overcome barriers and achieve their full potential? We are looking for a caring, resilient and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to join our Student Support team at Bishop Burton College.

You may currently be working as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Support Worker or within a school, college, care or community setting. Alternatively, you may have gained valuable experience supporting young people through volunteering and are now ready to build a rewarding career in education.

In this varied role, you will support students with a wide range of learning difficulties, disabilities and additional needs. Working alongside teaching staff, you will provide individual and classroom-based support, helping students participate in academic and practical activities. You will also support students around campus, during breaks and lunchtimes, and when arriving at or leaving College.

You will have good literacy and numeracy skills, an understanding of safeguarding and a genuine commitment to inclusive education. Experience supporting students with SEND, complex needs or challenging behaviours would be advantageous. Most importantly, you will be patient, approachable and able to remain calm and positive when faced with challenging situations.
