Job summary

Highams Park School is seeking an HLTA to support students with a wide range of special needs and to lead on literacy interventions while assisting with library duties. The role emphasizes close collaboration with the SENCO and teaching staff to close attainment gaps and improve attendance.

You will work within the learning support team, run after-school booster groups, and track pupil progress through designated passports and records, contributing to a supportive school environment.

Qualifications

• To work with children with special needs as identified by the SENCO.
• To build students' self-esteem and support literacy across the school.
• To assist in library management and promote reading across the school.

Responsibilities

• Work as part of the learning support team supporting all students, with a focus on those with special needs identified by the SENCO.
• Encourage all students to achieve their full potential and help them access the National Curriculum.
• Manage the library on a day-to-day basis and promote literacy across the school.
• Lead on developing literacy and reading initiatives and run core booster groups after school.
• Lead a range of interventions and track progress as directed by the SENCo.
• Write pupil passports and track progress for a core group of students as directed by the SENCo.
• Attend meetings as directed by the SENCo and assist with intimate care when required.
• Support teachers in providing suitable learning experiences and participate in performance and development reviews.
