Job summary

St Lawrence Primary School in Leatherhead is seeking a motivated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our dedicated team.

The HLTA will support students with SEND, lead small-group English withdrawal sessions, and oversee Learning Support Assistants while delivering tailored interventions.

You will work collaboratively with teaching staff, promote safeguarding, monitor progress, and contribute to an inclusive, high‑quality learning environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above (including English and Maths) or equivalent.
• HLTA status or relevant Level 2/3 qualifications (e.g., NNEB).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Competence with IT tools and ability to analyse and present data.
• Experience working in a similar role within education or SEND environments.
• Proven organisational and administrative skills with the ability to prioritise tasks.

Responsibilities

• Plan and lead small-group English withdrawal sessions.
• Provide guidance to and oversee Learning Support Assistants.
• Deliver tailored learning interventions to meet students’ individual needs.
• Work collaboratively with teaching staff to support classroom management and behaviour strategies.
• Uphold safeguarding policies and promote student well-being.
• Supporting delivery of curriculum-aligned interventions and activities.
• Planning and delivering lessons to individuals, groups, or whole classes as required.
• Monitoring and assessing student progress through data and feedback.
• Reporting concerns, incidents, or safeguarding issues in line with policies.
• Providing line management for Learning Support Assistants.
