Job summary

Tameside College in Ashton-Under-Lyne invites applications for Learning Support Facilitators to join our team. There are 3 positions (36 hours over 38 weeks - 0.88 FTE) supporting learners with a range of needs in literacy, numeracy and language, and providing emotional support.

You will work alongside tutors to help learners access the curriculum, adapt materials, and encourage participation across diverse subjects at multiple campus centres.

Qualifications

  • Experience in supporting young people with barriers to learning (social, emotional, behavioural).
  • Ability to motivate students with differing needs and abilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills when working with students.

Responsibilities

  • Support learners across a wide range of vocational subjects and across multiple centers.

  • Ensure individual learner needs are met and raise awareness of learners' needs within the college.

Job description

We are looking for Learning Support Facilitators to join us at Tameside College!

There are 3 positions available (36 hours over 38 weeks - 0.88 FTE)

As a Learning Support Facilitator, you will provide a range of support to learners with a variety of needs including difficulties/disabilities, Literacy, Numeracy and Language. You will also provide emotional support and encourage participation in the learning environment and may be required to support learners with personal care needs.

Here’s the standard bit

You will support learners across a wide range of vocational subjects and may be required to work at more than one of the college’s centres. You will work alongside classroom tutors to break down barriers and ensure that learners are able to access the curriculum and reach their full potential. You will ensure that individual learner needs are met and contribute to raising awareness and understanding of the needs of individual learners in the wider college community.

What you’ll need

With some previous experience in supporting young people, you will have a sound understanding of the range of issues facing young people with barriers to their learning (including social, emotional and behavioural) and have an ability to motivate students with differing needs and abilities. You will have excellent interpersonal skills in working with students, ability to remain calm and a problem solving approach to managing challenging situations.
