Job summary

Loughborough College Group is seeking a Learning Support Assistant to assist students with identified learning difficulties across multiple campuses (Loughborough, Stephenson, Brooksby and Ignite). The role involves in-class and online support, notetaking and mobility assistance, with a focus on fostering independence and academic progression.

The post is term-time only (33 weeks) and requires a Level 2 qualification with GCSE Maths and English.

Qualifications

  • Experience of working with young people.
  • Sound knowledge of safeguarding procedures.
  • Must possess at least GCSE Maths and English (Grade 4+).
  • Level 2 qualification or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Provide in-class support and online support to students.
  • Notetaking, assist with personal care and mobility support.
  • Support development of individual learning programmes with Co-ordinators and tutors.
  • Report issues to Support Coordinators to ensure appropriate support.

Learning Support Assistant (Multi-site, Term-time only)

Salary: £15,409.71 Per Annum (Based on FTE £25,603)

Type: Permanent - Part Time

We have an exciting opportunity for a Learning Support Assistant to join our team at Loughborough College Group, based across our campuses (Loughborough, Stephenson, Brooksby and Ignite (Melton))

The Learning Support team are seeking to recruit Learning Support Assistants (LSAs), to join them in providing a range of high-quality support to students with identified learning difficulties and/or disabilities anytime across the working week, Monday – Friday 08:45 – 16:30.

You will support students across a range of courses from Entry level to Level 3 / A Level who have learning difficulties and disabilities. These include Dyslexia, Autism, ADHD, Hearing Impairments, Visual Impairments and Physical Impairments. The successful candidates will provide in-class support and online support to individuals and groups of students, which includes notetaking, assisting with personal care and mobility support.

Responsibilities of this role include;

  • To support students in a sensitive, professional, discrete and confidential manner
  • To encourage personal and academic independence, self-empowerment and self-help skills wherever possible
  • To contribute to the development of individual learning programmes in liaison with Support Coordinators and course tutors
  • To ensure that students are receiving the appropriate level of support and report any issues to the Support Co-ordinators

What we are looking for;

  • Experience of working with young people
  • Have a sound knowledge of safeguarding procedures
  • You must possess at least a Level 2 qualification, GCSE grade 4 or above (or equivalent) in Maths and English
  • You will have a flexible and can-do approach; be committed to teamwork
  • Have a positive approach towards all students.
  • Excellent communication skills that enable you to work effectively with a range of students and staff
  • Willing to travel across campuses as and when it is required

Successful candidates will have the opportunity to undertake further training where identified.

This role is a term time only role working 33 weeks throughout the year and follows Further Education term times which you can find here Term Dates.

To be eligible to apply for a Tier 2 visa, the role advertised will need to have an educational standard of at least A levels and the salary for the role has to be a minimum of £25,600 unless in a shortage area i.e. STEM or if you have a PhD relating to the role.
