Job summary

Tameside College invites applications for teachers of GCSE Maths and Functional Skills. You will plan, deliver and develop learning programmes, employing flexible strategies to meet diverse learner needs.

The role includes assessing progress and contributing to curriculum development. You will contribute to the college’s excellent reputation and work within a supportive team, with opportunities for both full-time and part-time hours.

Qualifications

  • Educated to GCSE level (or equivalent) in English and Maths with a Level 3 qualification or NVQ.
  • Level 4 Teaching Qualification (Certificate in Education/PGCE or DTLLS) or equivalent by year 3 of appointment.
  • Evidence of ongoing CPD and relevant assessment qualifications (IQA/A1/V1 desirable).

Responsibilities

  • Plan, deliver and develop teaching/learning programmes using flexible strategies and learning styles.
  • Take responsibility for quality of teaching and curriculum development to meet learner needs.
  • Assess learner progress and devise assessments against personalised progress targets.
  • Teach GCSE Maths and Functional Skills and contribute to curriculum development.

Here’s the standard bit:

You’ll be responsible for planning, delivering and developing teaching/learning programmes using a flexible range of strategies and learning styles; taking responsibility for your quality of teaching and related curriculum development that meet learner needs, whilst assessing learners progress in College or on work experience and devise assessment processes against highly personalised progress targets.

What you’ll need:
  • Enthusiasm, resilience and be highly motivated. Educated to GCSE level (or equivalent) in English and Maths, you must have a Level 3 qualification or relevant NVQ (or equivalent).
  • Level 4 Teaching Qualification: Certificate in Education/ PGCE/Bachelor of Education or required to achieve Level 5 Diploma (DTLLS) or equivalent within 3 years of appointment and evidence of current Continuous Professional Development. Relevant assessment qualifications - IQA/A1/V1 are desirable.
